Why the Stars are So Important.
The stars are the only things that cast a safety net upon you in the dark sky, like ice drops reflecting the Sun, as compared to when they swim in the muted grayness of a suburban or urban sky.
They are the only things that allow us to truly indulge into the past as out ancestors did, not so far long ago if you think of time in the grand scheme of things, once when they appreciated it more than us, they look at the stars for inspiration, hope and help for the great future. Imagine what they would have thought come the eclipse… We need look up to the stars more often, because the stars are important. For most of humanities existence on this planet our days ended when we began to see the first stars at night and our days began when the stars fell apart and dissolved with the rising Sun. We gave them names and stories with relevance to our most important Gods and Goddesses that had the most power to instill greatness on our lives. Even now, creatures such as the dung beetles with the brain the size of an ant, seals allowing them to hunt and navigate by orienting themselves to the stars of the Milky Way a Stella compass might spring to use.
The stars once ruled half of our lives, and for some of us they still do astronomers specifically. Trekking with the use of the stars is what led them to greater lands, allowed them to travel in the cool of the night without worrying about heat exhaustion. Often, we tend to forget the nativity we once had even growing up, the whole brigade of wonder and lust for the unknown, somewhere on those lines we forget what it meant to question. I can only speak for myself when I say this, but staring at the stars from night to night, brings tranquility and peace, and finally the sense of knowing that there is something greater out there.
Brings me back to Earth. Allowing myself some forgiveness. The stars are important.
Look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Try to make sense of what you see, and wonder about what makes the universe exist. Be curious. Stephen Hawking,
